Billy Wayne Davenport, 85, of Brenham, passed away on April 2, 2021. Funeral services will be on Monday, April 5, at 3:00pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm preceding the service. Following the funeral, private burial services will take place at Phillipsburg German Methodist Cemetery
Billy Wayne was born on September 4, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma to parents Clyde and Peggy (Brewer) Davenport. He grew up in Enid and attended Enid High School. At the age of 23 Billy was called into the US Army. During his time in the service, he was stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington.
After graduation he worked for several companies, including H. L. & P. and Brand Coffee Service. He also owned D & F decorators where he met his wife, Dianne.
Billy enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts an earned his Silver Beaver award for his adult volunteer service. His second love was his mission service projects – Navajo Nation at Window Rock, AZ, UMCOR Depot in Baldwin, LA, and Washington County Bread Partners.
Billy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dianne; children and their families, Scott and Frances Davenport and daughter Brooke; Craig and Valerie Davenport and daughter Taylor and son Jason; stepchildren and their families, Bill Sciacca; Mark and Calah Sciacca and sons Matthew and Nathan; Deborah and Bill Weldon and daughters Christina and Catherine; sister-in-law Pat Davenport and her sons Brian and Tracy; and former wife Carolyn Wilda.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Peggy; brother Harold; nephew Brian; and half-brother Ralph “Dusty” Howe.
Pallbearers will be Scott Davenport, Craig Davenport, Bill Sciacca Mark Sciacca, Bill Weldon, and James Henkhaus.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Billy’s honor to Hospice Brazos Valley, and Brenham’s EMS/Communications Dept. Both organizations displayed outstanding care and compassion for Billy during his health struggles and his family wishes to express their gratitude.
