Billy Thomas Wolverton, Sr., 72, died June 11, 2012 in Central Texas Veteran''s Hospital in Temple. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2012 in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Rehburg. Bill was born January 14, 1940 in Mt. Enterprise, Texas to Bettye Jackson and Hollys Wolverton. After high school, he served his country in the U. S. Army. He married Carolyn Gibert on Dec. 29, 1961. Billy was employed as a school bus driver for Burton I.S.D., serving the district for over 20 years. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Bill". Fishing and dove hunting were favorite hobbies. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Jen Wolverton of the Philippines, Glen and Julia Wolverton of Cypress; and daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Paul Mortensen of Selma, TX., and an honorary child, Rachel Rice of Bryan; grandchildren: Curtis and Megan Wolverton, Caitlin and Jon Land, Caleb Wolverton, Brandon Wolverton, Danielle Engstrom, Joshua Engstrom, Josh Mortensen, Justin Mortensen, and Mitchell Wolverton; great-grandchild, Asher Wolverton; sister-in-law, Sheila Webb, mother-in-law, Louise Riggs, as well as niece, Heather Webb Robards, and nephew, Printice "Boot" Webb III. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Wolverton, his parents, a dear friend, Leslie Rice, and a brother, Jack Wolverton. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg.
