Birdie Mae Boehnemann Borchardt, 79, wife of William O. Borchardt, passed away peacefully, in her home, Friday evening, September 5, 2008. Birdie was born January 2, 1929, in Burton, Texas, to Otto and Ida KoerthBoehnemann. She was a graduate of Burton High School. Birdie was baptized February 17, 1929 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Rev. Carl Ziehe and confirmed December 5, 1943 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Rev. Roy Grote. On October 10, 1948 Birdie married William O. Borchardt at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Rev. E.C. Poehlmann. Birdie retired from Brenham State School. She was a member of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, served on the Altar Guild, treasurer of the Ladies Aid Circle. Birdie made Christmas stockings and would sew, for her grandchildren, with great love and baking cookies, for the grandchildren, was a great joy. Survivors include: her husband, William; sons and daughter-in-laws: Douglas and Sandra Borchardt of Brenham; Darrell and Laura Borchardt of Houston; daughter and son-in-law: Linda and John Greig of Bryan; sister-in-law: Grace Boehnemann of Burton; grandchildren: Kelly Hodde and husband Alan, Alison Borchardt, Justin Borchardt, Nathan Greig, and Michael Greig; great-grandchild, Avery Hodde; nieces: Diane Boehnemann, Debra Kieke and husband Rickey and Donna Putnam; great nieces: Angie Fritsch and husband Ryan, and Abby Majewski and husband Dustin; great, great nephew: Chet Fritsch; great, great niece: Paige Fritsch. Birdie was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law; brothers: Harvey Boehnemann and Alton "Pido" Boehnemann; sister-in-law: Annie Boehnemann. Funeral services for Birdie Mae Boehnemann Borchardt will be held Monday, September 8, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Lawrence Bade and Pastor Phillip Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers include Justin Borchardt, Nathan Greig, Michael Greig, Alan Hodde, Rickey Kieke and Glen Linke. Honorary pallbearers are Bert and Cleo Jaeger, Walter and Elouise Rodenbeck, Elouise Wilke and Regina Hernandez. Memorial may be offered to St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church T.V. Ministry or Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 East Blue Bell Rd., Brenham, Texas 77833. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham, Texas.
