Bobby Morris McKinzie, 83, husband of Bobbie Bell McKinzie, joined his Lord and Savior March 22, 2015 at his residence in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Brother James Howard officiating. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Bobby McKinzie was born Feb. 26, 1932 in Crawford, Texas to Otha and Nell H. Farmer McKinizie. He was married to Bobbie Bell on April 14, 1956. Mr. McKinzie was a member of the First Baptist Church in La Grange until 1989, and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Brenham until his death. He was a member the Singing Men of Texas, comprised of ministers of music. Mr. McKinzie was a Bi-Vocational Music Director in Georgia and Alabama while stationed in the military, and was a member of the U. S. Army Band. After attending seminary, he served as minister of music at the First Baptist Church in La Grange. He was involved in Little League and Pee Wee football while his children were young. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie McKinzie of Brenham; sons Bobby M. Melea McKinzie of Elizabeth, CO., and David A. McKinzie of Brenham; daughter, Elizabeth A. McKinzie of Brenham; grandchildren: Nikki R. McKinzie, Bradley A. McKinzie, Jay D. McKinzie, and Blaise A. McKinzie; great-grandchildren: Maddex McKinzie, Tanner McKinzie, Kai McKinzie, Jacob McKinzie, and Anya Roeckel. Other surviving relatives include his aunt, Wanda and Gene Landrum of Shreveport, Billy Walter, and Inez McKenzie of Gatesville, and cousins Laverne, Brenda, and Billy Lou, as well as other cousins and relatives. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Nell H. McKinzie; grandparents: Jasper and Katie Ward McKinzie, and John T. and Bertha Bunn Farmer. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley of Brenham, the Brenham Honor Guard, Gideon International Bibles, or any charity of choice.
