Bonnie Knittel

October 13, 1952 — March 15, 2017

Bonnie’s life story began on October 13, 1952 and ended tragically on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 following an automobile accident near her home in Houston.

She is predeceased by her parents: LaVerne and Arnie (Buddy) Knittel, her grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, dearest friend, Jim Butcher, and her canine companion of 17 years, Sophie Girl.

Surviving are her siblings: Rockie Knittel (Joyce) of Brenham, Trebie Bruening of Huntsville, Tx, Shannon Knittel of Iola, and Quirt Knittel (Ann) of Burton. Nieces and nephews (the “Big Kids”): Rockie Bryan Knittel, Jarred Knittel (Amanda), Trey Knittel (Julia), Justin Bruening (Carrie), Joshua Sweatt (Sarah), Lyndsey Patten (Bryan) , Fawn Knittel, Sydnie Knittel, Shawn Ware (Daphne), and Bryan Ware (Samantha). Also, Her “Little Kids): Piper and Atticus Knittel, Zoe Knittel, Brody and Olivia Bruening, Whitney and Colton Sweatt, Nick, Josh, Ryan and Luke Patten, Connor Knitttel, Colton Black, and Indie and Nova Ware.

Bonnie graduated from Burton schools, Blinn College, and the University of Houston.

Her work at Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages allowed Bonnie a most rewarding career; one filled with the challenges and competition that came naturally. Always honored for top team sales, Bonnie was able to hone in on her cheerleading abilities once again, a quality she genuinely had and used often.

Bonnie’s story would not be complete least we mention Michelle (Prissy) Whitener Bishop. A friendship that started in first grade and one that has lasted for decades. Best friends, a blessing each has been fortunate to share.

Always the mother hen of sorts, family and friends were so important to her. Family occasions, special events, and holidays brought her the most joy and happiness.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Marth 25th from 4-6pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Chapel in Brenham. Per Bonnie’s request, a celebration of life is being planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bonnie Knittel cheer scholarship or Bonnie Knittel UCC youth fund c/o Burton State Bank 515 N. Main Burton, TX 77835 .
