C. B. Schroeder, Jr., 80, husband of Marjorie Schroeder, died August 9, 2009 in Trinity Medical Center. Mr. Schroeder was born December 8, 1928 to Charlie Bennie and Henrietta Graeber Schroeder, Sr. He was baptized January 2, 1929 in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville by Pastor Karl Mueller, and confirmed there on October 17, 1943 by Pastor J. Fred Mgebroff. He was a graduate of Brenham High School and Blinn College. On January 20, 1951, C. B. was married to Marjorie Becker at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill by Pastor A. M. Fieldler. From 1949 to 1955, he was a member of the Texas National Guard. For many years, he and his family owned and operated the Starlite Drive In Theater in Brenham. Mr. Schroeder was a member of Germania Farm Mutual Insurance, serving as local secretary from 1961 to 1983, and as director from 1967 to 1983, and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. An avid deer hunter, he enjoyed hunting in the Hill Country, fishing, and playing cards and dominoes with his friends and family. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Schroeder; daughters and sons-in-law Beverly and Larry Koehler and Linda and Roy Boehnemann, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Chris and Stephanie Koehler, Cindy Koehler, Michelle and Gil Janner, and Pamela Boehnemann; great-grandchildren: Bethany Janner and Corbin Janner; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Roy McWilliams of College Station; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Willie and Joyce Becker, Jr. of Houston, and James and Betty Becker and Floreen and Ronnie Juergens, all of Brenham, as well as special friends, Annie Mae Rogers and Hank and Beverly Modgling. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for C. B. Schroeder, Jr. will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, with Pastor David Hall officiating. Interment will take place in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Koehler, Gil Janner, Alan Winkelmann, Ronnie Becker, David Geick, Paul Stoll, and Michael Rothermel. Honorary pallbearers are all Camp Ranch hunters. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
