Calvin Rodenbeck

Calvin B. Rodenbeck, 80, passed away January 20, 2017 in Brenham, Texas.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill with Pastor Kyle Merkel officiating.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Calvin Rodenbeck was an exceptional man. He enjoyed visiting with friends, playing cards and dominoes. He was also very athletic by participating in running track and playing football at Brenham High School. He also really enjoyed exhibiting animals at the Washington County Fair. Each year, Calvin and his mother would pick five bales of cotton at the family farm.

Calvin Rodenbeck was born December 28, 1936 in Brenham to Edward and Esther Hopmann Rodenbeck. He was baptized April 11, 1937. On March 18, 1951, he was confirmed. He graduated from Brenham High School. He was in the textile manufacturing business before retiring from Mt. Vernon Mills.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law Kathryn and Gilbert Janner, and sister-in-laws, Ruth Rodenbeck, Helen Rodenbeck, and also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Esther Hopmann Rodenbeck, brothers, Edward, Gilbert, Wilburn and Alfred, sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillie Smith, Irene Busse, Esther and Bill Walker and Mildred and Charlie Buerger.

Serving as pallbearers are John Haarmeyer, Gil Janner, Keith Kroll, Garrison Nordt, Lee Nordt, and Mark Rodriquez. Honorary pallbearers are Corbin Janner, Hunter Janner, Jeff Landon, Tim Mikolajchak, and John Rodriquez.

Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Cemetery Fund, or charity of choice.
