Carl William Burkhardt Sr., 74, of Conroe and formerly of Brenham, died June 14, 2007, at Conroe Regional Medical Center. Mr. Burkhardt was born March 6, 1933, in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Alma Hunt Burkhardt. He attended Baptist Bible College in New York and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On June 20, 1958, he was married to Martha DeFriend at First Baptist Church in Houston. He was a member of the Northridge Baptist Church of Conroe. Survivors include his wife, Martha Burkhardt of Conroe; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Kaylee Burkhardt of Santa Fe, Texas and David and Ana Burkhardt of Willis; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Kirk McJunkin of Plano; a brother, Russell Burkhardt of Binghamton, New York; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Carl William Burkhardt Jr.; two brothers, David and Joseph; and a sister, Jane. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 4:00 pm. Saturday, June 16 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Todd Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Mr. Burkhardt s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
