Carry Mae Steinfeld Wellmann, 85, of Brenham, widow of Raymond Wellmann, Sr., died April 22, 2009 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center. Mrs. Wellmann was born August 18, 1923 to Charlie Sr. and Lillie Gaskamp Steinfeld in Washington County, Texas. Mrs. Wellmann was a homemaker. She was an expert quilter, and enjoyed sewing and playing dominoes. Carry and Raymond Sr., who preceded her in death, were married for 61 years. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Jr. and Rebecca Wellmann of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law Evelyn and Burke Bauerschlag of Thorndale; grandchildren Reid Allen Bauerschlag, Rallin Wayne Wellmann and friend Debbie Smith, and Raellen Ruth Wellmann; two great-grandchildren: Tori Cheyenne Bauerschlag and Cooper Bauerschlag; sister Leatrice Kapchinski, brother Leroy Steinfeld; sister-in-law, Gladys Steinfeld; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Robert and Selma Wellmann, Ernest and Erline Wellmann and Lenora Wellmann, all of Brenham. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond Wellmann, Sr. brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Henry and Hilda Wellmann, Fritz Wellmann, Eddie and Ella Wellmann, Herbert and Hilda Wellmann, Harry Wellmann, Raymond "Buck" and Ella Mae Steinfeld, Charlie Steinfeld, Emma Belle Steinfeld, and Lonie and Willie Addicks. Funeral services for Carry Mae Wellmann will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville with Pastor Jim Abbot officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Reid Allen Bauerschlag, Rallin Wayne Wellmann, Randy and Ricky Kapchinski, Dale Steinfeld, Charles Buro, Clarence Steinfeld, Roy Lee Steinfeld, Randy Steinfeld, and Fred Wunderlich. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville or to Hospice Brenham, or the Meyersville V.F.D. The family would like to thank everyone at Gazebo Terrace for the excellent care given to Mrs. Wellmann and would like to also thank Hospice for their excellent care and attention.
