Catherine Vlasek

Catherine Hitzel Vlasek, 90, cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at home on Thursday June 7, 2024 in Brenham, Texas.  She was born on May 10, 1934 to Paul and Lanora (Baranowski) Hintzel in Bellville, Texas. 

Catherine was Baptized on May 27, 1934 and her First Holy Communion was on May 31, 1942 at St Peter & Paul Church in Bellville, Texas. After moving to the Spring Branch area, Catherine’s home church was St. Jerome Catholic Church in Spring Branch, Texas. She graduated High School from Spring Branch High School.  

On June 1, 1957 she married “the boy next door,” Travis Frankie Vlasek, in Houston, Texas at St. Theresa Catholic Church. 

Catherine worked as an accounts payable clerk for Vetco and Ardco for many years. She was an active long time TOPS member.  She had a love for puzzles, reading and baseball. She loved traveling to baseball fields all over to watch her sons and grandsons play. 

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Vlasek, parents Paul and Lanora (Lilly) Hintzel, sister Dorothy Dismuke, and son Randy Vlasek. 

Survivors include her son, Steven and Becky Vlasek of Missouri City, Texas, daughter-in-law Patsy Vlasek of Hemphill, Texas, three grandchildren, Bonny Vlasek of Burton, Texas, Tyler and Emily Vlasek of Odessa, Texas, and Travis Vlasek of Missouri City, Texas.  Two great granddaughters, Brooke David of Burton, Texas and Riley Vlasek of Odessa, Texas, as well as many other nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

At this time there will be no memorial service.  Her wishes were to be cremated and we will spread her and PaPa at different baseball fields across Texas.
