Cecil Hammer

Cecil Vollie Hammer Sr., 87, of Brenham, widower of Florence Hammer, died March 29, 2013 in Brenham Nursing Rehab Center. Funeral arrangement for Cecil will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. April 2. 2013 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Darren Donaldson officiating, burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Cecil Hammer was born on May 17, 1925 in Marlin TX., to Vollie Valentine and Ora Oden Hammer. On January 31, 1953 Cecil married Florence Malinowski in Bellville. Cecil was retired from the Corp of Engineers in Sommerville. Cecil is a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, and Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed Farming and Ranching, Deer and Coon hunting and he loved to garden. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law; Bobby Hammer and wife Jeannie of Longview, TX., Cecil Hammer Jr. and wife Lisa of Brenham, and Larry Hammer, daughters and son-in-law; Mary Ann Jackson of Houston, and Cindy Foerster and husband Rodney of Brenham, grandchildren; Kevin Hammer, Staci and Jon Dakus , and Shanna and Adam Graves, great-grandchildren Taylor Graves, Savannah Graves and Kinsley Dakus. Preceded in death by his parents and Wife Florence Hammer, and a son Terry Hammer. Pallbearers include; Cecil Hammer Jr., Rodney Foerster, Kevin Hammer, Bobby Hammer, Jon Dakus and Adam Graves. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Brazos Valley and Fellowship Baptist Church. Funeral services are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham, 979 836-4564.
