Funeral Services for Chance Ellis Janac will be Sunday at 2PM at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Burton, Tx.

Chance Ellis Janac of Burton Texas passed away Tuesday December 12, 2017 at Baylor Scott and White in College Station, Tx.

Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. Brenham, Tx. on Saturday December 16, from 5pm to 7pm.

Chance was born September 15, 1932 to parents Edward and Olga Janac in Snook, Texas. He graduated from Spring High School in 1953. Chance majored in Business at Sam Houston State and graduated in 1957. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. After serving in the Army, he joined Tenneco Oil’s Accounting Department. For the last 20 years of his career, Chance was a Manager at Delta Engineering and retired in 1985.

On December 23, 1972 Chance was married by Pastor Dobbie to the love of his life, Violet, in Houston Texas in her sister, Helen Locke’s home. Violet and Chance retired to Burton, Texas in 1989. Chance often said, “There is no place I would rather live than right here on our Hill in Burton, Texas". His hobbies were maintaining The Hill, his prolific vegetable garden, and his pampered cows. Chance and Violet enjoyed travel, all sports, and getting together with family and friends.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. He served as President of Church Council and was a member of Men’s Club. He served as Treasurer of the Burton Lion’s Club for 20 years.

Chance was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Clinton, Harry, and Edgar Janac, and by sisters- in-law Louise Janac and Helen Locke.

He is survived by his wife Violet, his sisters Janet and her husband Ellis Ward from Caddo Mills, Patsy and her husband Jerry Hodgers from Spring, Texas; sisters- in-law Barbara from Kirbyville, Texas and Mary Jo Janac from Houston, Texas; June and her husband Roy Marshall from Charlotte, Texas; Jean Mueller of Giddings, Texas; brothers- in -law Earl Mueller from Ledbetter, Texas; Henry Locke from Burton, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Robert Janac, Jeffery Janac, Brad Hodgers, Kevin Hodgers, Greg Mueller, and Joel Burns.
