Charles Eugene Aeschbacher, 76, husband of Verena Schilling Aeschbchaer, passed away April 25, 2011 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Carl Aeschbacher was born May 11, 1934 in Zurich, Switzerland to Eugene Charles and Bertha Mueller Aeschbacher. He was awarded a degree in Architecture in Switzerland, and later continued his studies in Denmark. On April 4, 1959, he was married to Verena Schilling in a 12th century chapel on the Rhine River. In 1962, he emigrated to the United States and joined Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, Architects and Engineers, in New York City. He worked in the design department and took responsibility for assignments for several large, commercial construction projects in the U.S., including some in Texas. He also worked in Europe, and spent 3 years in South Africa. Later, he joined the local architects of S. I. Morris in Houston and started to enjoy weekends in the Austin County area before retiring to his ranch in Nelsonville. Memberships included the AIA American Institute of Architects, Board member of Bellville General Hospital and the Live Oak Art Center in Columbus. In addition, he served as past president of the Bellville Historical Society and was a member of the Cat Spring Agricultural Society. Survivors include his wife, Verena Aeschbacher of Bellville, son, Peter John Aeschbcher and wife Gaby Winquist of State College, PA.,; granddaughter, Sofia Aeschbachaer, as well as his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews who reside in Switzerland.
