Charles Dean Heald, 87, of Brenham, passed away October 22, 2010 in Kruse Memorial Village. Mr. Heald was born April 19, 1923 in Canton, Illinois to Dean and Minnie Provard Heald. A World War II veteran, he served his country on the European front. He married Betty Irene Jacobus in Canton, Illinois. Survivors include a daughter, Charlene L. Heald Keller and husband Don of Brenham; grandchildren: Stacey McLarty and husband Steve; Stephanie Barbour and husband Robert, Christine Nelson and husband Daniel, and great-grandchildren Jessica McLarty, Sean McLarty, Declan Nelson, and Sydney Nelson. Preceding him in death was his wife, Betty, and a son, James D. Heald. Mr. Heald worked for the U.S. Government in various civilian capacities, including the Internal Revenue Service in East St. Louis, Ill., the U.S. Air Force in Belleville, Ill., the U.S. Army in St. Louis, Missouri, NASA in Houston, Texas, and the U.S. Army at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He retired to San Antonio, Texas and was the sole owner of an account/bookkeeping company. He and his wife moved to Brenham, Texas and resided at Kruse Memorial Retirement Community.
