Charles Lewis

Charles I. Lewis, 83, husband of Lillian Lewis, passed away May 28, 2013 in Brenham. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Brenham, with Pastor Troy Sikes officiating, and Masonic Graham Lodge #20 which will also be honoring Mr. Lewis during the service. Charles was born January 4, 1930 in Pampa, Texas to Charles and Doris Lewis. After completing his education, he served his country in the Marines from 1952 until 1954, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Sharpshooter Medal. Charles was a member of Masonic Grand Lodge #20 in Brenham and the Ocala, Florida Masonic Lodge. Charles was proud to have his grandson, Scott Ballard, present him with his 50 year Masonic pin at Graham Lodge #20 in Brenham several years ago. He was an outstanding general contractor in Houston and the Brenham areas for many years. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Lillian Lewis; children Charles Lewis, Jr. and wife Karen, and Lynn Garris and husband Mike, all of Brenham, and Cheri Moherek and husband Tony of Katy; grandchildren: Patrick Scott Ballard and wife Becky of Brenham, Stephanie Lewis and fiancé J. T. Rudolph of Austin, and Allison Moherek of Corpus Christi, Adrienne Moherek, Alexandria Moherek, Missy and Hank Morris, Tracy and Kenny Campbell, David Garris, and Wendy and John Barron. Also surviving are numerous great-grandchildren residing out of town, as well as Lyndsey and Logan Ballard, who live in Brenham. Charles will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to thank Troy Sikes for his concern and care during this difficult time. Because of Charles'' love and concern for animals, memorials in his memory may be directed to the Washington Co. Animal Shelter. Funeral arrangements for Charles I.
