Charles Hix Martin, Jr. 83, of Brenham, Texas passed away on January 31, 2025. He was born on December 31, 1941 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Charles Hix and Eddie Mae Gilbert Martin.
On August 16, 1980 he married Sherry Ann Moreland.
Charles willingly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict (1962-1966) serving as a radio code decipher in the country of Greece. He then went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee with his MBA in Transportation. Charles was an active member of Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity which promotes knowledge of transportation and logistics.
His first job was with Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan and then later he worked most of his career in the oil industry with Gulf Oil in Houston then Chevron in San Francisco.
Charles was a Traffic Manager for Rail and Truck in the oil industry working for Gulf Oil and Chevron Oil company.
He along with his wife Sherry lived a full Christian life devoted to their faith. Through the years he served as a Sunday School teacher, committee member, an elder at church and various other roles in the church. At present, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Bellville.
He found pleasure in reading, fishing, hunting, cards with friends, board games and dinner parties where you dressed up in authentic attire that matched the cuisine.
Survivors include his wife: Sherry of Brenham; sons: David Martin of Austin and Scott Martin and his wife, Shelby of Bryan; and his granddaughter, Elyssa Leigh Martin of Hamilton, Texas.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters: Charlotte Martin and Linda Martin.

The memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church-Bellville, 4099 Hwy 36 North, Bellville, Texas 77418
Inurnment with be at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas at a later date.
