Charles Robert Fillinger, Sr., 75, of Burton, died March 5, 2006, in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Mr. Fillinger was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Newton, Illinois, to Charles Franklin and Violet Josephine Cravens Fillinger. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On March 4, 1949, he was married to Rose Clark. Mr. Fillinger was a retired custodian for Brenham Independent School District. Survivors include his wife, Rose Fillinger of Burton; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Robert Jr. and Gladys Fillinger of San Antonio, Gale Wayne and Vera Dean Fillinger of Old Town, Florida, Kevin Ross Fillinger of Burton and Roger Myrl and Kim Fillinger of Burton; daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Joe Busby of Caldwell; sister, Kathryn Hood of Burton; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harley Edward Fillinger; and three sisters.
