Charles William Schulte, 70, husband of Mary Ann Hahn Schulte, passed away July 2, 2015 at MD Anderson in Houston, after fighting a courageous ten year battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church, with Pastor Martin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Charles was a true patriot, and, in his honor, the family requests that all who wish to pay their respects to begin calling at Memorial Oaks Chapel on Sunday, July 5, 2015, so everyone can celebrate the Fourth of July and its significance with their own friends and family.
Charles Schulte was born Sept. 25, 1944 in Brenham to Johnie Otto and Elsie Buerger Schulte. Baptized Oct. 22, 1944 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, he was confirmed there Sept. 7, 1958 by Rev. H. C. Ziehe. On June 13, 1965, he married Mary Ann Hahn at Grace Lutheran Church. Charles was faithful member of Abiding Word Lutheran Church.
A loving, caring person, Charles was a friend to all, helping others unselfishly, asking nothing in return. He supported his community by coaching Little League, taking the Senior Boys to the Little League World Series. Charles also coached the Little League Girls teams, but took time to play sports himself. He played on the Midwest Steel Slow Pitch Tournament Team, and the Long Point Yellow Cats Slow Pitch Team. Charles was co-owner of Jimmie Hahn Concrete and La Grange Concrete and Aggregates.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Schulte; son and daughter-in-law John and Kristi Schulte of Jourdanton, Tx.; daughters Stacey Walters of Brenham, and Stephanie Kaiser of College Station; grandchildren: Mary Kate Walters, Winston Walters, Kristin Kaiser, Connor Kaiser, Dillon Schulte, and Caden Schulte; sister-in-law Barbara Schulte of Houston; sisters and brothers-in-law Johnnie and Harold Kolkhorst of Houston, and Mary "Puddin" and Charles Barnes of Brenham; brother-in-law Jimmie Hahn, Jr.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Cynthia Hahn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Johnie Schulte; sister, Marian "Sugar" Kolkhorst; brother, Johnie "Bubba" Schulte, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jimmie Sr. and Alma Hahn.
Serving as pallbearers are John Schulte, Winston Walters, Connor Kaiser, Gary Kolkhorst, Kenny Kolkhorst, Danny Kolkhorst, Andrew Hahn, Colten Walla, Charlie Barnes, Frank Rosales, Charles Rau, Nelson Randermann, Wayne Seilheimer, Bob Rankin, Bart Seilheimer, Ernest Mathis, and El Gene Schulle.
All past and present employees of Jimmie Hahn Inc., La Grange Concrete and Aggregate, as well as the members of the Wednesday Night "Choir" Club, will be honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be directed to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, or to Abiding Word Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Funeral arrangements for Charles William Schulte are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
