Charles Smith

Charles Donald Smith, 74, husband of Mary Jane Cullum Smith, passed away January 26. 2008, in Trinity Care Center, in Brenham. Mr. Smith was born June 17, 1933 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Thomas Richard Smith and Mary Josephine Brunini. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and in the Army Reserves, he was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Smith was a Master Plumber and worked in the plumbing business for many years in Houston. He enjoyed riding horses, joking with family and friends and was always the life of the party. Survivors include his wife Mary Jane Smith of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law Dan and Rhonda Smith of Decatur, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Mark Johnston of Brenham and Anita and Richard Eckenfels of Pasadena, Texas; grandchildren: Ashley Smith, Stephanie Smith, Randy Eckenfels, Angela Eckenfels, Donald Johnston, Lanee'' Johnston, and John Mark Johnston; brother, Frank Smith of Wallisville, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Funeral services for Charles Donald Smith will be Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at Boone Funeral Home, in Hollandale, Mississippi. Burial will follow at Hollandale Cemetery, in Hollandale, Mississippi. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Edward Johnston, John Mark Johnston and Randy Eckenfels. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
