Charles Edward Spreen, 65, of Brenham, the Zionsville community, died Friday, November 28, 2003 at the family residence. Mr. Spreen was born September 23, 1938, in Washington County, Texas, the son of Charlie and Clara Spinn Spreen. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Mr. Spreen served in the National Guard. He was employed by Mt. Vernon Mills Inc., Brentex Division for 44 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Survivors include his sister Laverna M. Schiller; niece Shirley Jean Schiller; nephew Kenneth Wayne Schiller; aunt Mildred Spreen, uncle Theo Naumann, Sr.; special friend Velma, numerous cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law Erwin G. Schiller. Funeral services for Charles Edward Spreen will be held Monday, December 1, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2003 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be John W. Keienburg, Walter Korth, Jr., Theodore Naumann, Jr., Charles Rauch, Lee Fred Schroeder and Marvin Spreen. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main St. in Brenham.
