Charles Henry Tappe, Sr., of Brenham, passed away on August 5, 2022 at the age of 86. A visitation for Charles will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Prairie Lea Cemetery with Pastor Charles Burton, Officiant.
Charles was born on April 22, 1936 in William Penn, Texas to parents Mary Louise and Erich William Tappe. On June 6, 1959 he married the love of his life, Geraldine Hester.
He loved his family with everything he had in him. He was so proud of his great-grandchildren and he thought they hung the moon. He was the most loving gentle man God ever made. There was never a car he couldn’t fix, a bull he couldn’t tame, or a heart he couldn’t win. God made the best father, grandpa and his family could not have been prouder of him.
He is survived by his children: Charles Tappe & Drenda of Splendora, TX, John Sommers & Wendy of Cypress, TX, Joanie & Alan Keith of Fayetteville, AR and Karen Tompkins of Conroe, TX; sisters and brothers-in-law: Sweet Pea & Doug Caruthers of Brenham, Carol & Joe Carlie of Henderson, TX and Darla Stafford of Houston, TX. Grandchildren include: Charlie & Tonya Tappe, Heather & Lilman Wilson, Kaitlin Sommers, Sara & Stephen Kleinsteuber, Clint, Timothy and Ryan Duval and Johnney Hester; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jayci Wilson and Carter Tappe and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, his parents, grandson, Erich Tappe; Great-grandson, Dalton Tappe and sisters Mary and Lucille.
