Charles William Wolff, 79, of Brenham, passed away Feb. 1, 2004, after a short illness, in the Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham. Mr. Wolff was born to Edwin G. and Erna Hannes Wolff in Burleson County, TX, on June 13, 1924. He was baptized August 17, 1924 in St. Thomas in Old Dime Box, TX and was confirmed in May 1939, in Elizabeth Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caldwell. He attended Blinn College and Sam Houston in Huntsville. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1947. On October 24, 1953, he was married to Billie Sexton in Amarillo, TX. Mr. Wolff was very active in the church. He served as president of the congregation at St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham and was on the council and various committees. For 28 years he worked for Texaco. During those years he moved his family to Port Arthur, Houston, Corpus Christi, Midland and San Angelo. He and his wife retired in Brenham in 1981. He became involved in raising cattle at his farm called Wolff Acres. He was preceded in death by Edwin G. Wolff, Erna Wolff, Lenora Wolff, Mary Lee Wolff, Albert Wolff, Lois Gregory and Timothy Gregory. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Billie Wolff; son, Charles David Wolff and wife Julia Wolff of Spring; daughter, Karen Bilberry and husband Mark Bilberry of Austin; grandchildren, Craig Wolff, Joshua Bilberry, Leane Bilberry, Camron Wolff and Claire Wolff; brother, Harold Wolff and wife Georgia Wolff of Natchitoches, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Johny Sowell and husband J.B. Sowell; sister-in-law, Margaret Mathies and husband Tom Mathies; sister-in-law, Darlene Crofford and husband Roy Crofford; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade and Pastor Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be James Becker, Al Gasaway, Clyde Thomas, Vance McManess, Nathan Ausley and David Blakley. Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Wessels, Lawrence Seidel, Guy Attaway, Bert Thorne, Don Mabry, Bill Velchoff and Warren Berry. Memorials may be given to St. Paul s Building Fund or Radio Ministry. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
