Charlie was born on his family’s farm in Welcome, Texas on May 4, 1939. He married the love of his life Carole Ann Ullrich on May 14, 1960. Charlie and Carole welcomed their 1st born Cherie Ann on October 21, 1961. After four years they decided to add to their family of three and welcomed Cindy Beth on July 3, 1965.
Anyone that knew Charlie knew him as a gentle giant and a mentor to many. He was also a faithful member of the Elks Lodge of Brenham. Charlie worked as a salesman in Houston and Brenham until he retired to take up his true passions of fishing, hunting, and cooking. Even though retired he never let the grass grow under his feet. We always knew where to find Dad. If he were not dancing with Waldene, he could be found enjoying a cold one at Tootsies or 4’Gs.
We knew if he was not at home, he was probably elbow to elbow grilling and BBQing for anyone who needed help. Monday’s nights were hotdog/ hamburger nights in Round Top. Then there was cooking for his friend the late Johnie Schulte. He loved going out to the camp in Dilly and Schulte’s camp house to grill some of the best ribeye’s you have ever tasted. He also loved going to dances with Waldene whenever they got a chance.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Cherie Kieke Lester and her husband Lyle Lester; Cindy Adamcik Ming and her husband Terry Ming. Grandchildren, Kyler Kieke and his wife Holly Kieke; Kaden Kieke and Kylie Lester. His Great Grandchildren, Braden Saucedo, Alyssa Saucedo and Kason Kieke. Also, by his longtime companion Waldene Banik. His Brothers and Sisters, David and Donna Cavness; Billy and Bernice Cavness; Diana and Johnny Polak; Patsy and Louie Konarik. Charlie is proceeded by his wife Carole Ann Adamcik, Johanna Bednar and Adela Cavness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Texas Elks Children’s Services, 1963 FM 1586, Gonzales, TX 78629.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
