Charles Charlie Steinfeld, Jr., 75, died Friday, October 5, 2007 at his home. Mr. Steinfeld was born in Brenham on April 6, 1932 to Charles and Lillie Gaskamp Steinfeld. He was baptized May 22, 1932 by Pastor Karl Mueller, and confirmed on March 30, 1947 by Pastor W. C. Poehlmann. On June 28, 1953, he married Gladys Steinbach in Friedens United Church of Christ of Gay Hill by Pastor William Woerz. He was employed as a truck driver for Blue Bell Creameries. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Steinfeld; sons Dale Louis Steinfeld and wife Nanette, and Steven Wade Steinfeld and wife Kendall of Brenham; daughter, Sandra Kay Liere and husband Richard of Brenham; brothers and sisters-in-law Lee Roy and Emma Bell Steinfeld and Miriam Gaskamp of Brenham; sisters Carrie Mae Wellmann and Leatrice Kapchinski of Brenham; grandchildren: Heidi Ann, David Alan, Spencer Ann, Stacy Helena, and Dustin Wade, a special nephew Gary Gaskamp, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Mr. Steinfeld was a member of Grace Lutheran Church from 1960 up until the time of his death. He enjoyed being out on his farm, working in his garden and with his cattle. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his five grandkids, who were his pride and joy. He was always happy and willing to help in any way. He never knew a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law Raymond Buck and Ella Mae Steinfeld; a sister Rosalie Wunderlich, sister and brother-in-law Bernice and Alvin Buro; brothers-in-laws Raymond Wellmann, Sr. and Garrett Gaskamp; brother and sister-in-law Louis and Floy Steinbach, and sister and brother-in-law Lillian and Howard Payne. Funeral services for Charlie Steinfeld will be held Monday, October 8 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. A visitation with family and friends will be held Sunday, October 7 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are David Steinfeld, Dustin Steinfeld, Gary Gaskamp, David Steinbach, Charles Wayne Buro, Roy Lee Steinfeld, Raymond Wellmann, Jr., and Clarence Steinfeld. Honorary pallbearers are the Blue Bell Truck Drivers with whom he worked: Alan Pittman, Tommy Lange, Harold Joe Schwarze, Dave Eilers, Allen Neumann, Mike Przyborski, Ernie Weatherby, Henry Steinfeld, Raymond Jozwiak, Lynwood Ullrich, and Tyrone Marshall Memorials may be made to the Altar Guild/Parament Fund at Grace Lutheran Church.
