Ciola Malkey

July 19, 1908 — December 5, 2003

Ciola Weidemann Malkey, 95, of Brenham, and the widow of Arthur Malkey died December 5, 2003 at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. She was born July 19, 1908, in Burton Texas, the daughter of Otto and Mary Schwierzke Weidemann. Ciola was baptized in the Lutheran faith November 22, 1911, in Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine by Reverend John Hardin and confirmed September 4, 1921 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top by Reverend A.H. Falkenberg. On December 24, 1926, she was united in marriage to Arthur Malkey by Reverend N. Cook in the First Baptist Church in Brenham and were blessed by the birth of two sons. They enjoyed farm life, raising turkeys and cotton. She loved to work in her yard and raise flowers, mainly roses. Ciola was making her home at Kruse Lutheran Memorial Village in Brenham. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg and the Church Ladies Aid. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Berry Lee and Paulette Malkey of Brenham; daughter-in-law, Annie Malkey of Burton; grandson, Dennis Malkey and wife Silva of Pearland and sister, Martha Kramer of Needville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur Malkey on November 9, 1993; son, Leroy Malkey on February 25, 1993; sisters, Flora Fuchs and Irene Malkey; brothers Max Weidemann, Harry Weidemann and Bennie Weidemann. The funeral service for Ciola Weidemann Malkey will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 8, 2003, in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, with Reverend Larry Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas 77833.
