Mrs. Eikenhorst died February 3, 2013 in Bryan, Texas. She was born May 27, 1929, in the Long Point community of Washington County, to Henry Jr. and Annie Kelm Kettler. She grew up on a farm and attended Long Point School. She worked on the farm, served as a cook at Long Point School and helped her parents operate a dairy farm. Mrs. Eikenhorst''s greatest accomplishment and joy was being a good mother to her two sons, Dr. Ron Eikenhorst and Dr. Bill Eikenhorst. On October 17, 1948, she was married to Harold Eikenhorst. She served as a mother and partner to her growing family. When the "empty nest" feeling came, she worked at Gaskamp''s Fabrics for a number of years. She loved to create, sew and work with fabrics. When she became aware that the dye in the fabrics was affecting her health, she became a "Pink Lady" and volunteered at Trinity Hospital. After an accident in 2008, she became partially disabled and served on the call committee for the hospital auxiliary. Mrs. Eikenhorst was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Ladies Aid and Women of the ELCA. She spent time taking care of her ill and her aging parents for more than 25 years. Survivors include her husband, Harold Eikenhorst of Burton; sons, Ron Eikenhorst, M.D. and wife Mary of College Station and William "Bill" Eikenhorst, DVM and wife Karen of Brenham; grandchildren, Chad, Bret and Dana, Blake and Aurbrey, Blane, Colin, Brenn, and Megan; great-grandchild, Charlotte; sister-in-law, Ruby Kettler of Brenham; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Brauner of Killeen. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Kettler; and a sister, Viola Brauner. Pallbearers will be Bruce Kettler, Ryan Kettler, Curtis Buck, Kenneth Korthauer, Nathan Eickenhorst, Lonnie Brauner, Jr., Fred Blum and Michael Bentke.
