Clara Susen

December 23, 1930 — July 23, 2019

On July 23, 2019 Clara Evelyn Susen passed away peacefully at Focus Care of Brenham Nursing Facility with family by her side. Clara was born December 23, 1930 to Emil and Albina Kolenovsky in Fayetteville, TX. She was the fourth of seven children.

Clara was initially a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville where she was married to John Willie Susen Sr. on October 18, 1950. She later became a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Industry for more than 50 years. She and John lived in Bleiblerville where they raised their family. They enjoyed spending their spare time playing cards and dominos with family and friends of the community. Over the years, Clara worked at Brenham Broom and Mop, Old Brazos Forge, Krause Elementary, Schovajsa Catering, and Short Branch (later Miss Bobi’s). She enjoyed staying busy serving the community during her years as an employee at these local businesses. Clara was also a member and secretary of SPJST Lodge in Bleiblerville as well as a member of Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire Department. She was not only a wife and loving mother but also MoMo to her grandkids. Clara was an amazing cook…her sweet rice, broccoli and cheese, and roast was her signature meal! She loved spending time with her family during the holidays. Easter was an especially fun time where everyone would gather and spend the day. In her down time, Clara loved watching the game show network, reading, and working word search puzzles.

Clara is survived by her children Susie Thaler and husband Billy of Brenham; Son, John Susen Jr. of Bleiblerville; Sister, Alice Malota of Park; Brother, Jerry (Sonny) Kolenovsky and wife Charlene of Schulenburg; Grandchildren, Billy (Butch) Thaler Jr. and wife Stacey of Waller, Kristy Knight and husband Kirk of Coppell, Daniel Duron Jr. and wife Ammie of Bleiblerville, Christopher Duron and wife Heather of Bellville, and Michael Duron and wife Joyce of Bleiblerville as well as 11 great grandchildren and numerous relatives and many friends.
