Cleburn Cordes

Cleburn David Cordes, 81 of Cypress, TX passed away March 21, 2022.

Cleburn was born July 12, 1940 to Jesse and Thelma Cordes at home near Round Top, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2022 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, in Brenham.  The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby, 6814 Skull Creek Rd, Fayetteville, TX 78940. Burial will follow in Welcome Lutheran Cemetery.

On June 2, 1962 Cleburn was united in marriage to Carolyn Cordes. They were blessed with a son, David. Cleburn was a loving father and grandfather. Cleburn and Carolyn enjoyed spending time together and made many wonderful memories going on cruises around the world. He truly enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, and experiencing new cultures. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and attending bible study class.

Cleburn was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cypress. He supported his church ushering, volunteering with repairs and helping with Turkey Suppers. He was a compassionate person who helped people in need. One of his greatest contributions was being an active blood donor for over 50 years.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, David and Joan Cordes of Cypress, Texas; grandson, Kyle Cordes of Cypress, Texas, sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Mike Brugger of La Grange, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Cordes, and parents Jesse and Thelma Cordes.
