Clenwood Helmuth Heins, 81, of Brenham, husband of Lydia Ann Mayer Nienstedt Heins, passed away January 30, 2012 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Clenwood was born July 8, 1930 in Greenvine to Eton and Lena Oevermann Heins. He was baptized Sept. 28, 1930 in St. John''s Evangelical Church in Burton and confirmed May 20, 1945 in St. John''s Evangelical and Reformed Church. On March 29, 1980, Clenwood married Lydia Ann Mayer Nienstedt in St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. He proudly served his country as a radio operator in Korea and was honorably discharged from the United States Army holding the rank of Sgt. Survivors include his wife, Lydia Ann Mayer Heins; sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis Bubba and Billie Heins, and Greg Tank and Susan Nienstedt; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and James Brod, daughters Charlene "Tuttie" Stiewert, Beverly Bennett, Glenda Heins and Tricia Zwahr; grandchildren: Tanya and Trenton Sander, Tabitha Lucherk, Trena Lucherk, Thana and Doug Powledge, Kie and Casey Lucherk, Matt Brod, April and Jacob Oliver, Emily Brod, Jason Stiewert, Vance Baker, and Lucy Nienstedt; 14 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Hugo and Faye Heins; brother-in-law Franklin Eckert; sister and brother-in-law Perlie and Weldon Klaus, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Also surviving is his beloved dog, Mutzi. The family also remembers special friends Leroy and Erlene Simms. His parents preceded him in death, as well as sister and brother-in-law Esther and Alex Mertz, brothers and sisters-in-law Travis and Lorena Heins and Louis and Ruth Heins, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leslie and Olga Mayer, and a sister-in-law, Doris Jean Eckert. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday evening, February 1, 2012, between 5 and 7 o''clock in Memorial Oaks Chapel; 1306 W. Main St. Brenham. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton, Texas with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will follow in St. John''s church cemetery. Clenwood, "Bossman," requested that anyone attending his funeral service to please dress casually in blue jeans and western shirts, or any comfortable attire. Serving as pallbearers are Matt Brod, Vance Baker, Todd Felder, Jacob Oliver, Curtis Heins, Jason Stiewert, Virgil Stiewert, Kie Lucherk and Trenton Sander. Honorary pallbearers are Franklin Eckert, Buddy Meier, Jerry Vaughn, Glenn Spies, Clyde Fuchs, Daryl Gummelt, Pedro Gonzales, Doc Streater, Jimmy Eckert, Craig Gouldson, and Gene Krivacka, as well as his many friends from the Green Door. Memorials may be directed to Mayer Cemetery.
