Cleo Evans, 90, of Burton, wife of Ernest Evans, died Saturday, at Kruse Village in Brenham. She was born on October 4, 1913 in Yorktown, Texas, the daughter of Conrad and Ola Pearl Alexander Flowers. Mrs. Evans attended and received her Bachelors Degree from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas and her Masters Degree from St. Mary s University San Antonio, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burton, Texas. She taught Sunday school, the children s group and the ladies group at the First Baptist Church in Burton and at the First Baptist Church in Boerne, Texas and the North East Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas while she was a member of those churches. She was a kind and gentle lady who was devoted to her church and family and was loved by all. In addition to her husband Ernest, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Marsha Evans of Houston, TX; half-brothers, T. J. Flowers and his wife Ruby and Billy Ray Flowers of Houston, TX; niece, Julie Newbury of Belton, TX, and nephews, Ralph Ball of Katy, TX, and Seth Ball of Marlin, TX. Her parents, her son, James Ernest Evans, Jr. and her aunt, Jessie Flowers Naylor, preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Burton, TX, with Reverend Jack Broadwater officiating. The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, June 21, 2004. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Burton, TX. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham.
