Later he was confirmed on July 7, 1963 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Houston by Rev GW Fichenscher. On September 22, 1963 he was married to his wife of 58 years, Ruth Lucille Schulze at St John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Rev RJ Weber.
Clyde graduated from Pearland High School in 1954. After graduating he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad as a mechanic for the next 35 years. He then later worked for Walsh and Albert Company in Houston as a truck driver until he retired in 1998.
Clyde was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Houston for 38 years where he served as an Elder and on the Finance Board. During that time he also served on the School Board for Lutheran North School in Houston. As of October 2000, Clyde has been a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham where he has served on the Board of Trustees. Clyde was very strong in his faith for God and it showed in the many ways he served and his willingness to help in any way that he was needed. Clyde was also a very active member of the Berlin-Mill Creek-Zionsville Volunteer Fire Department.
During Clyde’s life he enjoyed spending time with family and friends most of all. He never met at stranger, which meant he was never short of friends. He loved going dancing with his wife Ruth or even just going to listen to the music with her, especially Polka. As a father, grandfather and great-grandfather he enjoyed attending activities in which his family took part in. Whether it be a sporting event, a concert, a dance, or just a chance to show his support for what they were participating in. Clyde loved working in his flower beds and gardens in which, sharing the fruit of his labor with his family and friends was his greatest enjoyment. If he was not in his garden or flower beds you could find him sitting on the porch shelling pecans enjoying the beauty of his flower bed and the great outdoors. Throughout the years Clyde enjoyed collecting and building model trains. He loved to share his passion for trains with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
