Clyde Thomas

April 30, 1926 — November 20, 2016

The funeral for Clyde Weldon Thomas, 90, of Brenham, will be held at St. Paul"s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham , Wednesday, 10:00 A.M. November 23, 2016. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery, with Pastor Phil Fenton officiating. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., November 22, 2016 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Clyde died November 20, 2016. He was born April 30, 1926, in Burleson County, the son of Sam D. and Minnie Schoenemann Thomas. He was baptized April 27, 1938 at First Baptist Church of Somerville, Texas, by Rev. Roy Durnel.

Clydewas married to Ruth Wiese on January 9, 1954, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham by Rev. Theo R. Streng.
Clyde was a graduate of Somerville High School and Blinn Junior College. He received his BA and Me Degrees from Sam Houston State Teachers College of Huntsville, Texas. He taught school in Klein, Caldwell and Brenham for a total of 29 years, and retired from the teaching profession in 1980. He also worked for Kohring Monument for a number of years.

He was a faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, serving on the Church Council, usher corps and as a Sunday School Teacher. Clyde was a member of Buddy Wright American Legion Post #48, having served two years in the United States Navy during World War II. He was also a Gideon. He enjoyed hunting and working with his cattle. Clyde loved being outdoors, and grafting pecans. He and Ruth love to square dance and playing dominoes.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Ruth; son and daughter-in-law David and DebbieThomas , granddaughter, Linda Dale Tosta and husband Ryan; great-grandchildren, Haylie Lynn, Braden Scot and Logun Richard Tosta; brother-in-law Herb May of Somerville; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joyce Thomas of Brenham. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and special friend Dale Reisner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bobby Thomas, and sister and brother-in-law, Herb and Elizabeth May.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul"s Evangelical Lutheran Church Radio and TV ministry, or a charity of your choice.
