Corene Niemeyer was born in Independence, Texas on December 6, 1933 to Gus and Alvina Brinkmeyer Niemeyer. She attended Independence Public Schools and Brenham High School.
She was a lifelong member of Sandy Hill Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in the Women of the Church.
She was active in German Club, Washington County Genealogy Club and Washington County Home Economics where she served in various offices.
She also had many hobbies including painting, making scrapbooks, bowling, sewing and taking pictures of anything and everything wherever she went. Upon entering retirement, she retired from Blinn College Custodial Department.
Corene enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center where she had many friends and enjoyed noon meals and playing bingo and dominoes. Every year she sent a Birthday card to every member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
Corene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gus Wm. Niemeyer, Daniel Niemeyer and Karlee Alvia, her great niece. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Edward Neumann, brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Dinah Niemeyer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Visitation will be 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27th with family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Sandy Hill. Burial will follow at church cemetery.
