Curlie Minden

Curlie Von Minden, 91, of Brenham, died September 21, 2009, at Bluebonnet Hills Care Center in Brenham. Mrs. Von Minden was born November 10, 1917, in Winedale, Texas, the daughter of Henry C.A. and Wilhelmina Spies Ullrich. She was educated at Winedale Schools. Being with her family was very important to her. She enjoyed cooking and loved her flowers, especially her roses. Pastimes she enjoyed were watching wrestling and the Grand Old Opry. She also loved animals. Mrs. Von Minden was a volunteer at Bluebonnet Hills Care Center for many years. She was a cook at the confectionary at Citizens Pharmacy, at The Cactus restaurant in Burton and The City Café in Carmine. Survivors include her sons, John Henry Von Minden of Freeport, Burney Ray Von Minden and Jimmie Lee Von Minden, both of Brenham; daughter, Carol "Jeanie" Lindsey of Brenham; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Von Minden; two sons, O.D. and Larry Wayne Von Minden; daughter-in-law, Caroline Von Minden; son-in-law, O.C. Lindsey; a brother and two sisters. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel with John Paul Cruz officiating. Burial will be in Burkhardt Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, September 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: John Von Minden Jr., Kevin Lindsey, John Lindsey, Nathan Ray Von Minden, Erik Lee Von Minden and Chris Plagens. Honorary pallbearers will be her other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to your favorite charity.
