Curtis W. Dietrich, 60, of Brenham, TX, died Jan. 30, 2006, in Bluebonnet Hills Care Center. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, 1104 Carlee Dr., Brenham, with Pastor Walter Schindehette officiating. A reception will be held at the church fellowship hall following the funeral service. Burial will follow the reception at 1:30 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. Mr. Dietrich was born July 28, 1945, near Burton to Walter and Lucile Struck Dietrich. He was baptized Oct. 14, 1945, by Pastor Piepenbrook in Burton and was confirmed Aug. 23, 1959, by Pastor Holck in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church at Berlin, TX. Starting at an early age, he worked at Schubert Sheet Metal for many years and later at Texas Fibers. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham for many years. His beloved cocker-spaniel dog, Dottie, was his true companion at home on Cedar Street and in his Ram Charger on short rides. There were inseparable. His favorite hobby and pastime was aviation. He visited the Brenham Airport to watch the airplanes. He enjoyed drawing and building models. Survivors include his special caring cousin, Nevi Lee Lauter, and companion, Jack Wage; aunts, Lillie Dietrich and Natalia Struck of Burton, Freida Theiss of Houston; uncles, Eddie Braun of Rockdale and Marvin Struck of Burton; and cousins. A special appreciation goes to the personnel at Bluebonnet Hills Care Center for the care and compassion shown him for the last six years and also to Hospice. Pastor Schindehette gave him assurance that in his baptism he became a child of God. Pallbearers will be his cousins. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles F. Schubert, Milroy Weinert, Mrs. Beulah Fordham, Larry Winkelmann; Mr. and Mrs. George Rhodes, Mrs. Melvin Perry and other neighbors on Cedar Street; Thomas and Peggy Campbell; and personnel of Bluebonnet Hills Care Center and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. in Brenham.
