Curtis Elbert Plagens, Sr., 78, of Brenham, died April 27, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Plagens was born Jan. 21, 1928, in Kurten, Texas, to Adolph and Lillie Hood Plagens. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Charles Keenum of Bryan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Sherryl Plagens of Brenham and Curtis E. and Julie Plagens of Shore Acres; two grandsons, Chris Plagens of Brenham and Terry Service of Bryan; four granddaughters, Kelly Younger and husband Casey of Brenham, Chelsea Plagens of Brenham, Ashley Plagens of Shore Acres, Lindsay Plagens of Shore Acres; three great-grandchildren, Aidan Service, Shelbi Younger and Rylan Gilley; three brothers; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Howsley Plagens; his parents; granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Service; and two brothers. The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 28 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29 in Kurten Cemetery in Kurten. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. until service time Friday and again following the service. Pallbearers will be Chris Plagens, Boyd Howsley, John Waddell, Terry Service, Casey Younger and Charles Keenum. Honorary pallbearer will be Aidan Service.
