Daniel Lakenmacher

August 10, 1932 — November 24, 2017

Daniel William Lakenmacher passed away November 24, 2017 at his home in Brenham, Texas.

Dan Lakenmacher was born August 10, 1932 in Houston, Texas to Bernard William and Stella Katherine (Renfer) Lakenmacher. He had a great youth growing up in the Heights and River Oaks with many boyhood friends at The Kinkaid School and Lamar H.S. He attended UT Austin and served in the US Army before going to work at Houston National Bank. Dan was involved in real estate and later became an appraiser.

Dan had two sons with Janabeth Laing Lakenmacher, Bernard William (Bill) and John Laing Lakenmacher. On June 14, 1981 Dan married his second wife Linda Brotherton and they moved to the family ranch outside of Brenham to begin their life together. Their whole life with each other was filled with fun projects and adventures. Daniel had a passion for sailing, riflery, and travel. Daniel was an exceptional man and was extremely good with his hands. He could make, build, or repair almost anything. Dan’s idea of a good time was to have people over for a meal and storytelling. Dan had a creative mind and had a story for any topic. Dan’s life included many animals, but dogs were his true love.

Dan was a member of Central Congregational Church in Houston and was active in Independence Baptist Church. He was a benefactor of the NRA. He was also a member and past president of the Houston Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers. He was a member of the Washington County Amateur Radio Club and at various times, was a member of the Houston Yacht Club, the Seabrook Sailing Club, and other sailing groups.
