Daniel Eugene “Gene” Timm, 84, of Brenham, Texas passed away peacefully, in his home, Wednesday, August 11, 2021.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Madeline Gail Timm.

Gene was born on December 6, 1936 in Dallas, Texas.  He was baptized March 21, 1937 at Central Lutheran Church by Pastor Nathaniel Kern in Dallas, Texas.  He married his beloved wife Madeline “Gail” in Dallas, Texas on August 29, 1959, and graduated shortly thereafter from Southern Methodist University.

Being inspired by Pastor Don Hamilton in his early years during confirmation, Gene answered the Call to Ministry and attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He was ordained July 5, 1964 at Central Lutheran Church in Dallas.  He pastored and served in Macon and Hazard, Nebraska; Hobart, Oklahoma; Angleton, Huntsville, and Cat Spring, Texas where he retired in 2003.  He continued to serve as supply pastor in the Brenham area where he moved and settled after retirement.  During his career, Pastor Timm served on and chaired many committees, conferences and ministerial groups within the American Lutheran Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

As a child, Gene developed a love of trains from watching his dad design and build live scaled steam locomotives and railcars in his backyard.  This hobby and passion would follow Gene with every move; building his own HO scale layout, which always fascinated his grandchildren.

Gene was the loving father of Mark and Sara Timm, Nathan and Betty Timm, and Andrea and Lloyd Barcak; the loving grandfather of Jessi and Cameron Willmann, Tessa and Kevin Barlow, Bekah and Zarick Cervantes, Alex Lensch, Zack Timm, Bryan and Samantha Christmas, Kennedy and Jacob Robinson, Lukas and Shelby Barcak, Daniel Barcak, and Liberty Barcak; the loving great-grandfather of Poppy Willmann, Lincoln Willmann, Nessa Barlow, Grayson, Carson, and Maddie Christmas.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Joe Swift; his brother and sister-in-law Hal and Marsha Timm; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Nell Timm, his daughter Elisa Timm and brother Bill Timm.
