Sealy, TX

Darel Edward Roark, 65, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Baylor, Scott & White in College Station, Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Tx.

Darel was preceded in death by his parents, Edward ONeal & Mary Lou (Nelson) Roark; brother, Terry ONeal Roark; and cousin, Max Dale Jordan.  Born February 6, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was a loving & devoted husband & father.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Ellen Marie (Hyde) Roark and their son, Kire-Mason Kirby O’Roark. Other surviving family are his daughter, Amanda & another son, Jeffrey; sister, Mary Janet Robinson with her husband, Don Robinson; brother, Gerald Dennis Roark; cousin, Carl Dean Jordan with his wife Diane & cousin, William Chester Jordan; six nephews and two nieces.

Darel Edward Roark was a man fiercely proud of his Irish heritage & his own independent nature.  Self-employed most of his life, always determined to do everything his own way.

He loved flashy, fast cars with big motors & drag racing. Darel was a passionate fan of boxing.  He had his favorites he cheered on and ones he couldn’t wait to see fall.  He had a keen interest in all true crime & history shows.  He loved cats, their independent nature so akin to his own.  He loved dogs, especially our bulldogs and all beagles.  He enjoyed hunting, mostly for deer or rabbits.  He liked the peacefulness of fishing, the anticipation of catching a really big one.

He loved his whole family deeply and often told funny, crazy stories about everyone, including himself.  He had a keen mind for memories & history, a beautiful smile, a hearty laugh and even a wonderful voice when he chose to sing. Also, best of all he had a huge, warm heart that peaked out from within his gruff & tough exterior if you were trusted enough to be let in.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main St., Brenham, Tx.
