Darlene Smith

Lavonne Darlene Smith, 90, of Brenham, passed away on January 12, 2025. She was born on July 17, 1934 in Borger, TX to Willie and Wilma Price Riley. She graduated from Borger High School and Wayland Baptist University. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Amarillo. She was very involved in Fellowship Baptist Church and was a Prayer Warrior. She was an excellent storyteller and her grandchildren were her hobby. Before she retired, she worked as the Treasurer for the Amarillo Baptist Association.

Darlene is survived by her son, Stephen Smith of Hutto, TX, daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Darren Donaldson of Brenham, TX; grandchildren, Malicia Donaldson Halfmann and husband, Reece, Patrick Donaldson and wife, Hannah, Philip Donaldson, Connor Smith and Cassidy Smith; great-grandchildren, Lucille Donaldson, Luke Donaldson, Laney Donaldson and Mykah Halfmann.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Smith, her parents and an infant sister.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Lingleville East End Cemetery in Lingleville, TX.

Memorials honoring her memory can be given to Fellowship Baptist Church in Brenham.
