David Harley Flowers, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Round Top, Texas on April 1, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian W Flowers and Marion Floyd Flowers, and is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rebecca Seidel Flowers.
Dave was born January 13, 1942 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he developed a lifelong love of all things LSU. Growing up, he had the opportunity to live in Colombia and Iran, and then returned to the United States to attend high school at the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduating from Bolles he attended LSU, earning a degree in Engineering.
Dave had a knack for building and fixing almost anything - he was MacGyver before there was a MacGyver TV show. He worked in several engineering and fabrication roles before starting his own business as an electrical contractor in Kingwood, Texas. He was quite a Renaissance man, with an amazingly wide range of knowledge and hobbies. He might be out fishing, or square dancing, or scuba diving, or bear hunting in Alaska, or cooking up something delicious and maybe a little unusual in the kitchen or on the grill. Dave even built a barndominium practically by himself in Round Top, where he and Becky eventually retired.
In addition to his wife Becky, Dave's survivors include his two daughters, Stacey and Laura Flowers, stepdaughter, Sandra Judge; sisters, Deborah Gautreau, Diana Wascom, and Tonita Underwood, and grandchildren Alicia, Collin, and Cayman Flowers-Carver, and Griffin Judge.
