David Garris

David Michael Garris, 71, husband of Lynn Ballard Garris, passed away May 9, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pastor Phil Fenton will officiate. Mike Garris was born August 23, 1943 in Ft. Worth to John Alvin and Dorothy Garris. At the age of 10, he moved with his family to Hurst, Texas. He was active in scouting and received his Eagle Scout Award in 1959. After attending L. D. Bell High School, he attended the University of North Texas and Arlington State College. He enjoyed dancing, and won a dance contest in Florida with his sister, Cindy. He found great joy with his family on his boat, as well as having them all for Sunday dinner. Until recently, he loved playing golf with his brother-in-law, Charles Lewis, and his best friend, Gary Davis. Survivors include his wife, Lynn Ballard Garris; children: Michele and Hank Morris, Tracy and Ken Campbell, Scott and Becky Ballard, David Garris, and Wendy and John Barron; grandchildren: Kris and Travis Morris, Mackenzie and Tyler Campbell, Lauren Guerra, Lyndsey and Logan Ballard, Danielle Prahm, Madeline and Victoria Garris, Doug, JT Billings, Adrian, Johnny, Christina and Joe Barron; great-grandchildren: Lanie, Tatiana and Milo Morris, Clay Morris, and Callie Prahm; sisters: Cindy and Jimmy Owens, and Debbie and Mitchell Wilkerson; and his first wife and high school sweetheart, Diane Geiver Garris. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John Alvin and Dorothy Johnson Garris. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Mike''s memory to the SPCA of your choice.
