David Germain

David Germain, 86, of Burton, TX passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024.

David was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on February 8, 1938. On January 11, 1957, he married Cora Jean (Eisman) Germain in Terre Haute, Indiana. She preceded him in death on October 24, 2015.

In Terre Haute, David worked for the grocery chain A&P for nearly 20 years. In 1983, he and his wife Cora Jean moved from Indiana to Burton, TX. Upon arriving in Burton, David worked at Kingston's restaurant in Brenham and soon after he began his career with the Burton School Corporation. David served as head of maintenance and drove a school bus for many years; long enough to shuttle two generations of Burton students back and forth from home to school. It was not uncommon for children to tell him that their parents rode his school bus. David thoroughly enjoyed his time in Burton and served Burton as mayor for a short period of time.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Germain and son, James Dale Germain.

He is survived by his son Bruce Alan Germain (Trudy Jane), daughter-in-law Jean Germain, grandchildren Allison Newgas (David), Michael Germain and Travis Germain, and great grandson Isaac Newgas. David's family and friends will miss his smile and quick wit. Rest in peace, dad.

The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Darrin Holub officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton.
