David Wren Mooney, 66, of Frelsburg, died Feb. 18, 2007, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Mr. Mooney was born Sept. 24, 1940, in Bryan, Texas, to Albert Devon and Dorothy Juanita Wren Mooney. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, where he played baseball and the team won the state championship. He was a graduate of Blinn College, where he also played baseball. Mr. Mooney served his country in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 16, 2000, he was married to Linda Quillin in Columbus, Texas. Mr. Mooney was an avid Aggie fan and enjoyed watching auto racing. He also participated in steer wrestling at rodeos. Mr. Mooney was a truck driver for Blue Bell Creameries for over 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Linda Mooney of Frelsburg; his children and their spouses, David and Tricia Mooney of Houston, Ryan Mooney of San Marcos, Becky Mooney of Brenham, Alicia and Andrew Taravella of Houston, Lara and Kenny Butler of Florence, Mississippi and Frank and Melissa Foster of Houston; grandchildren, Tyler and Nicholas Mooney, Trevor and Wesley Taravella, Katie and Maggie Butler and Frank IV and Peyton Foster; and his sister, Nita Lou Gomez of Grandview; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Molly & Bob Rau of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Patsy & Frank Deal of Richmond, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jimmy Mooney. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Burial will be at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to your favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
