David Sowers

July 23, 1959 — February 11, 2020

David Sowers "was a quiet type whose love was very loud”. He went home to the Lord far too soon on February 11, 2020. His drive to help anywhere and anytime kept his illness hidden from others. David always answered the call when others needed help or guidance. One of his quiet joys was teaching Sunday School and sharing Christ’s love with children. In all that David did, he always pointed others to Christ.

David loved Carol with all his heart for over 38 years. They created a loving, Christian home for their daughters, Brittney, Kaci, and Darrin. Over time, his sons in law, Kyle Carrier, Jesse Hayre and Michael Krebs joined the Sowers family. David’s biggest accomplishment was his precious grandchildren, Paityn, Kason, Ellis, Evie, Emmitt, Connely, and Whit. He was adored by his children, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and the honorary children and grandchildren who claimed to be part of the Sowers clan. David’s precious family also includes his parents Les Sowers and Joyce Love, along with his siblings Kathy Oetken and husband Tim, Linda Friedel and husband David and Leslie Sowers, Jr. David loved hunting at the family ranch in Big Spring or anywhere big bucks roamed. With his girls, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many friends of all ages in tow, David was always ready for an outdoor adventure. David especially enjoyed hunting with his best friend, Travis Bevers. He fished ponds all over Washington County and always caught more fish than anyone else and was ready to serve as the chief cook for a fish fry for family or friends. While David appeared quiet and serious, he was always ready with a story or a quip that would get the whole room laughing along with him. He was a man of deep convictions who gave himself in loving his family and serving his church and his community. David will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

The family will receive visitors from 5:30– 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 14 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Pallbearers are Ronnie Novak, Dave Curry, Marshall Bevers, Ray Anderson, Michael Herzog, Kyle Carrier, Jesse Hayre, Michael Krebs and honorary pallbearer Travis Bevers.
