Delbert R. "Del" Crocker, 91, of Brenham, the widower of Ellen Crocker, died March 11, 2014, at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. The family will receive visitors from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Martin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Mr. Crocker was born May 5, 1922, in Oelwein, Iowa, to John and Frances Godby Crocker. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and graduated from the University of Texas in 1950. On June 9, 1950, he was married to Ellen Ward. He was an architect and designed over 1, 200 buildings, many of which were churches, including the College Church of Christ in Victoria where he served as deacon. He was a member of the AIA. Mr. Crocker liked gardening and caring for his lawn, reading, camping, woodworking, photography and was an avid Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys fan. Survivors include his children, Janet Booe and husband Everett, Gary Crocker and wife Angela, Glen Crocker and wife Lynda, Carol Bunkley and husband Jim, and Duane Crocker and wife Monica; grandchildren, Jonathan Booe, Taylor Booe and wife Tyra, Emily Crocker, Gregory Crocker, Kelly Crocker, Marcy Crocker, Ally Williams and husband Tim, Hunter Bunkley, Ashton Crocker, Austin Crocker, Jackson Crocker and Madeline Crocker; and brother-in-law Buddy Ward and wife Gloria, and sister-in-law, Pat Ward. He was expecting his first great-grandchildren, Raylen and Ryder Booe, in June. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Crocker on May 29, 2011; his parents; sister, Janette Sims; brothers and sisters-in-law Ben and Beth Dumas, Ethel and Darold Friermood, and John Ward.
