Delbert Stelter

Delbert Albert Stelter, 86, passed away September 2, 2018 in Temple.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Katrina Walther officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Delbert A. Stelter was born November 8, 1931 in the Gay Hill Community of Washington County to Fritz C. and Emma Albrecht Stelter. He was baptized March 6, 1932, and confirmed April 7, 1946. Mr. Stelter served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, serving from March 11, 1953 until March 11, 1955. On July 22, 1953, he was married to Mildred Giese.

Employed by Brentex Mills for almost 40 years as a supervisor of maintenance, he also farmed on his land. He was interested in anything mechanical, and loved building things. Flying remote control airplanes was a favorite hobby. Delbert was a member of Zion Lutheran Church until his death.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Lloyd and Lillian Stelter, and Allan and Karla Stelter, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Jaime Lee Kazyak and husband Michael of Brenham; Kevin Stelter of Austin; Kyle Stelter of Houston, and Shane Stelter of Brenham; great-grandchildren: Harper Kazyak; nieces, Linda Unger and husband Ron, and Debra Reber and husband Dale; nephew, Lee Stelter and wife Jeanne-Marie; great-nieces: Leia Unger, Nina Unger, and D’nea Reber.

Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Giese Stelter; parents, Fritz and Emma Stelter; sisters: Elfrieda Lueck and Rosa Lee Eissler; brother, Pearl Lee Stelter.

Serving as pallbearers are Greg Pecht, Randy Schwartz, Rodney Weiss, Curtis Rodenbeck, Gary Stelter, Ron Unger, and Lee Stelter.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley, Veterans Hospital of temple, or any favorite charity.
