Dellie Herrmann

November 15, 1931 — December 22, 2012

We remember Dellie Mae Haevischer Herrmann, daughter of Fritz and Wela Glaeser Haevischer. She was born on November 15, 1931 in Bleiblerville, Austin County, Texas. Dellie was baptized on April 3, 1932 by Rev. J Appel and confirmed on October 14, 1944 by Rev Walter Wolf both at the Salem Welcome Lutheran Church. She attended the Concordia School at Welcome, Texas. Dellie passed away on December 22, 2012 and received her Angel wings at age 81. Her life was a blessing but one filled with challenges which she faced head on. In this respect, she was a shining example to her family and all of those that knew and loved her with her "never give up" attitude, her ability to count God''s blessings, and to make the best of every situation no matter how difficult it proved to be. Her extended bout with polio did not stop her from being a good wife and a wonderful mother to her three children. Then, later she became the owner and operator of the Herrmann Print Shop for many years. She was an active member of the Texas German Society, completed the Citizen Police Academy class #4, was a Mentor "Host" at Alton Elementary School, and a member of the Bluebonnet Senior Citizen''s Club. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards and dominoes with her friends, participating in bingo games, and going out with her friends and family members. She was also an avid Houston Astros and Rockets fan. Dellie was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Wela Haevischer, her nephew, Glen Dale Zwahr, and brother in law Bruno Zwahr. She is survived by her loving family, son Gene Herrmann and wife Darlene Dottie of Brenham, her daughter, Debra Mertz and her partner Mary Steele of Estes Park, Colorado, and her daughter Arin Herzog and her husband Harvey of Brenham. She was loved and adored by her grandchildren, Matt Herzog, David Herzog, Heather Caswell and her husband Daniel, Arin Delamater Fullerton and her husband Paul, Catherine Delamater LaBarre and husband Matt, Cristi Herrmann Nelson and husband Billy, and Ashlea Herrmann. She also was loved by her great grandchildren who knew her as "Memaw" , Leah Nicole, Raney Kate, and Brooklyn Paige Nelson, Jolie and Cody Weston Caswell, Max James and Adam Thomas Fullerton, and Logan Matthew LaBarre. Dellie was expecting another great granddaughter joining big brother Logan LaBarre in March, 2013. Dellie also left behind her loving sister, Annell Zwahr, and her niece, Cheryl Turner and her husband Joe, great niece Erica Campbell Farmer and husband Kenny, great nephew Jared Campbell and his wife Ashley, and great grand nieces Taylor and Payton Farmer, and Grace Campbell all of Brenham. We also remember her special friends and neighbors, Jean Winters, Jack Pirdle, and Peggy Nethery. Serving as pallbearers are Matt Herzog, David Herzog, Billy Nelson, Gerald Wehring, Jared Campbell, Daniel Caswell, Randy Klausmeyer, and Douglas Maurer. Honorary pallbearers are Elgin Klausmeyer the brother she never had and Joe Turner. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Services will be held at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin on Thursday, December 27, at 10:00 a.m. with Lay Minister Ken Weiss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to Eben Ezer Lutheran Church Cemetery fund. Funeral arrangements for Dellie Mae Herrmann are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
