Delores Winkelmann

Delores Ann Dippel Winkelmann, 84, died May 27, 2019 in Brenham.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, with Pastor Evan Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Delores Winkelmann was born March 28, 1935 in Brenham to Walter and Elsa Schmidt Dippel. On June 14, 1935, she was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Rev. Goglin. She was confirmed April 2, 1950 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham by Rev. T. R. Streng.

Delores was a graduate of Brenham High School. She was married to Lee Roy Winkelmann on April 25, 1954, also at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

A lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church of Wehdem, she served on the church council and taught Sunday School, Junior Lutherans, Bible School, and was also a member of the Martha Circle. She initiated an annual blood drive at her church and was an avid blood donor with over 27 gallons donated. Delores also served as an advisor for the Kenney 4-H Club, as well as secretary for ARC Bluebonnet Circle. She was also a member of the Austin Co. Extension Homemakers. Delores was employed by Brentex Mills for over 28 years.

Survivors include her husband Lee Roy Winkelmann; daughter, Patricia Winkelmann; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Becky Winkelmann; daughter and son-in-law Pam and James Herrmann; son-in-law, Max Baranowski; sisters Bernice Rodenbeck, Elaine Dippel, and Jan Kapner and husband Sid; sister-in-law Dorothea Dippel; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Erline and Ernest Wellmann; grandchildren Amy Baranowski and fiancé Josh Tyser; Sara and JP Provence, Wesley and Erica Winkelmann, Tyler and Morgan Winkelmann, Nichole Herrmann, and Braeden Herrmann. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Greyson Winkelmann, Beckett Winkelmann, and Crawford Winkelmann.

Delores was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Baranowski; parents; parents-in-law; brothers Eugene Dippel, Donald Dippel, Alvin Dippel; sister, Alice Schaefer and brother-in-law Charlie Rodenbeck.

Serving as pallbearers are Duane Dippel, David Dippel, Troy Kapner, Carl Rodenbeck, Greg Dippel, Marcus Bender, Donald Winkelmann, and Brian Cramm. All nieces and nephews will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
