Delphine Marie Maresh May, 83, widow of Quindell E. May, passed away May 2, 2011 in St. Mark''s Medical Center in La Grange. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2011 in St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with interment to follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pastors Phil Fenton and Karen Haueisen will officiate. The family will receive family and friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Delphine was born April 29, 1928 in Deanville, Texas to Vince and Mary Prazak Maresh. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John''s Lutheran Church in Deanville. A 1946 graduate of Caldwell High School, Delphine moved to Rosenberg after graduation to live with her special aunt and uncle, Hannah and Anton Noska. She attended business school and worked in the banking industry in Houston. While in Rosenberg, she met Quindell E. May, and they were united in marriage on August 1, 1948 in St. John''s Lutheran Church in Deanville. In 1950, the couple moved to Brenham, where she was a homemaker and seamstress before going to work for HEB in 1965, retiring after 20+ years of service. She had been a member of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church since moving to Brenham. Delphine had been a resident of Country Care Plex in Giddings beginning in January of 2009. An excellent seamstress, Delphine sewed for the public and sewed many Maifest costumes over the years. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, and traveling, and especially treasured the time spent with her family and friends. Delphine will be missed by the employees of Country Care Plex in Giddings. Survivors include her mother, Mary Prazak Maresh of Deanville; daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Kenneth Mueller of Brenham; daughter-in-law, Terry May of Frelsburg; grandchildren: Scotty Mueller and wife Roseann of Brenham; Dana Mueller of Houston; Stacy May of Frelsburg and Cody May of Austin; great-grandchildren: Jackson, Jared and Jase Mueller of Brenham; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Donnie Blinka of Lyons; sisters-in-law, Francine Berry and Diane Ainsworth of Kerens; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Juanell and Aubrey Saunders of Kerens; nieces Charlotte Hold and husband Allen of Longview, and Melanie Becka and husband Seth of Caldwell; great-nieces and nephew: Morgan and Coy Becka of Caldwell and great-niece, Delayna Hold of Longview. Delphine was preceded in death by her husband, Quindell E. May in 1983; brothers Jimmie and James Maresh; her father, Vince Maresh in 1987; her son, Wayne May in 2003; special aunt and uncle Hannah and Anton Noska, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Serving as pallbearers are Scotty Mueller, Cody May, Larry Maresh, Don Groce, Allen Hold, and Seth Becka. Honorary pallbearers are Dana Mueller, Stacy May, Jackson, Jared, and Jase Mueller, and Donnie Blinka. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham, Hospice Brazos Valley, or the Alzheimer''s Association. The family would like to thank Delphine''s special next-door neighbors, Vernon and Marilyn Klussmann, who diligently watched over their neighbor, and later, her home, after she moved to Giddings.
